Hedgerow Berry Days September 17th and 18th, 2011
at Badger Farm Community Centre, Winchester, Hants, SO22 4QB
The hedgerows abound with fruit at this time of year and what better than to walk to Oliver's Battery Conservation Area to learn about some of the wonderful array of edible berries, as well as some of the poisonous ones, such as black bryony, spindle and woody nightshade. After the walk we returned to the Community Centre for a cookery demonstration to make fruit leathers and apple lemon curd, as well as tasting rose hip syrup and a variety of hedgerow jellies and jams prepared earlier.
